SIM PTV inlet

The new PTV inlet from SIM is making it possible

Improving established products can set new standards. Therefore look forward to the new PTV inlet for cold injection of analytes into a GC system. The PTV inlet is a further development of the SIM split/splitless GC inlet, which so far has been sold over a 1,000 times.

The unbeatable advantage: the PTV inlet from SIM is applicable for temperature programmed sample injection up to 700 °C and thus surpasses the performance of conventional PTV inlets. At last, analysis of high-boiling substances and liquid polymer solutions are easily possible.

The temperature program is comprised of three ramps for a temperature range from -20 ° up to 700 °C and ensures controlled sample evaporation as a result of a consistent temperature distribution in the liner. You can be assured of precise analytical results.

Sample injection below room temperature and higher sample throughput in combination with COOL-CUBE

You need your gas chromatograph quickly ready for the next analysis run? Combine your PTV inlet directly with the SIM COOL-CUBE. The COOL-CUBE manages to cool down the PTV inlet in a minimum of time. Even with high GC starting temperatures you will achieve quick cooling rates through its special insulation so that sample injection can start easily at  -20 °C. This way you gain time and are able to increase sample throughput.

The COOL-CUBE is working with a compressor-cooling system. Liquid coolants such as nitrogen or carbon dioxide, and connected safety precautions, are no longer necessary and as a result makes handling of gas cylinders or Dewar vessels redundant.

PTV Control Method MassHunter web

Configure and control the PTV inlet easily with drivers for Agilent OpenLAB CDS ChemStation and EZChrom or with the standalone software for Agilent MassHunter.

The PTV inlet can be used for the following injection methods:

  • hot and cold split/splitless technique
  • pulsed split- and splitless injection
  • solvent vent

The optimized cooling and increased heating performance of the PTV inlet are based on the ZIM project "Development of an innovative inlet for cold injection of analytes into a GC system", which was supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Germany.
