SFC-NCD-coupling

Selective and sensitive analysis of nitrogenous components

The new SFC-NCD coupling combines the advantages of chemiluminescence (NCD) with the high resolution and the speed of the supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC). The utilized principle of detection makes the use of a primary standard for quantification redundant. This offers a new method for fast and sensitive detection of nitrogenous analytes.

The great advantage of the NCD lies in its reaction to a stoichiometric relationship of the formed nitric oxide to the analytes. The detectors' response is in relation to the formed amount of NO (equimolar response).

Detection is based on chemiluminscence, an enormously selective and sensitive method, that works in two steps: nitrogenous compounds are transformed under thermo-oxidative conditions with ozone to nitric oxide. The excited nitric oxide falls back into its ground state by emitting chemiluminescence radiation, which can be detected.
