SIM becomes partner of the WiPro research alliance
As a partner of the "knowledge-based process intelligence - WiPro Alliance, SIM is now also supporting a research project in the field of process control (biotechnology PAT) for the first time. The aim is to integrate an LC system into the process control and thus to develop an automated online analysis system for biotechnological process control.
Biotechnology is one of the great fields of innovation in the future economy and has been highly valued for thousands of years. For example, beer, wine, yeast and dairy products mature with the help of enzymes and microorganisms. However, the metabolism of cells in these processes is very complex and still not fully understood.
The WiPro research alliance aims to make an essential contribution to more stabilized processes in bioproduction and at the same time to advance the biologization of various processes. 19 partners, including sensor and software manufacturers, as well as experts in process control, users from food production and pharmaceuticals, and 2 universities form the WiPro. They want to prove that bioprocesses can be controlled and that it is worthwhile to build up knowledge-based process intelligence (WiPro).
For this purpose, SIM will develop an online UPLC monitor in cooperation with the company Trace Analytics from Braunschweig. The project is funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
