SFCprep Analyzer: Use analytical SFC for isolation – precise, efficient, sustainable

Supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) is established in pharmaceutical and chiral analysis for high resolution and fast separations. But what if you could use analytical SFC directly to isolate pure compounds on a larger scale?

The SFCprep analyzer developed by SIM expands the Agilent 1260 Infinity III SFC analytical system with a unit consisting of the SIM SFC fraction collector and an isocratic pump. The entire analyzer is managed by OpenLab software, which ensures intuitive control of the expanded functionality. The result: a seamless workflow from method development to semi-preparative isolation.

What makes the system special:

• patented gas-liquid separator: high recovery, no carryover despite CO₂ expansion
• reduced solvent consumption thanks to supercritical CO₂ as the primary mobile phase
• fast, gentle drying – ideal for thermolabile compounds
• end-to-end process from method development to semi-preparative isolation

The SFCprep Analyzer is particularly well suited for the separation and subsequent isolation of enantiomers (chiral molecules), peptides, flavorings, pharmaceutical intermediates, and complex mixtures. The substances can then be used, for example, for structural elucidation using NMR.

Each system undergoes a factory acceptance test (FAT) at SIM and can be adapted to specific laboratory requirements (e.g., detector configurations). The analyzer is a powerful and environmentally conscious solution for laboratories, combining analytical precision with efficient compound isolation.
